Obituary for Ruby Delores NeSmith Mixson
Ruby Delores NeSmith Mixson, age 84, of Demorest, Georgia, formerly of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2020.
Born on July 27, 1935, in Statesboro, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Francis Morgan and Juanita Mitchell NeSmith. Mrs. Mixson was a Teacher’s Assistant at Alden Road Exceptional Student Center, where she taught life lessons to special needs children. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, house plants, and the beach, and loved her Florida Gators. Mrs. Mixson was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Kenneth Lamar Mixson, who died September 20, 2019.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Lynn Mixson of Demorest; daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Scott Conner of Greenville, NC and Kim and Donnie Briggs of Middleburg, FL; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Harlene and Jerry Sheally of Florence, SC and Angela and Billy Cowart of Yulee, FL.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday, February 13, 2020, at McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 15, 2020, at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32211, with burial to follow in Arlington Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the service hour on Saturday at Arlington Park Funeral Home.
