Robert Gene McDuffie age 83 of Baldwin, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2020.

Born in Baldwin, Georgia on June 22, 1936 to the late Samuel and Lillie Vinson McDuffie. Mr. McDuffie proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a self-employed TV sales and repair man for many years and later retired from Lee Arrendale State Prison. Mr. McDuffie was a member of Baldwin Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He loved God, family, church and his children.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Lewis McDuffie and Walter McDuffie; sister, Ann Nation.

Surviving are his wife, Shelby Jean Parker McDuffie of Baldwin; son and daughter-in-law, Todd & Mary McDuffie of Baldwin; daughter, Kelly McDuffie of Baldwin, granddaughter, McKenzie McDuffie of Baldwin; sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn & Allen Manley of Lula; numerous nieces and nephews.

In consideration of public health & safety, a drive-by visitation will be held from 5:30-7:30 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral home staff will be available to give directions on arrival.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 am, Thursday, June 11, 2020 in the field at Baldwin Baptist Church with Pastor Saul McCoy officiating. Interment will follow in Level Grove Cemetery with Pastor Terry Rice officiating.

Those in attendance are reminded to adhere to the public health and social distancing guidelines.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Pruitt Health Hospice for the care they provided during Mr. McDuffie’s final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Baldwin Baptist Church, 200 Shore Street, Baldwin, GA 30511 or Level Grove Baptist Church, PO Box 416, Cornelia, GA 30531.

Shelby,Kelley,Todd & Family, I am so sorry to hear about Gene. I love you guys a lot. I remember Gene & Shelby hauling us around to go bowling & caroling. He and Shelby has always showed a lot of love to everyone they came in contact with. I will miss him dearly. I will be praying for y'all.

There are so many memories and so much love when I think back to my life with my sweet church family at Baldwin Baptist. Gene was always smiling and kidding me and saying “Hey Sister!” I love you all and pray for you all during this time. God bless you. . Love Celeste
