Obituary

Robert Lee Lovell, age 77, of Clarkesville, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2020.

Born on March 25, 1943 in Batesville, he was a son of the late Robert Carl “Tony” and Nancy Benfield Lovell. Mr. Lovell worked at Clarkesville Mill and Tencate. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Lovell enjoyed spending his free time hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. He was a big fan of dirt tracks and old style Nascar racing. In his retirement, he loved going to Pigeon Forge and making the loop, several times, at Cades Cove with his wife.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Carl Lovell, Jr. and sisters, Betty Barnes and Janie Lovell.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Rowland Lovell of the home; sons and daughter-in-law, Scott Lovell of Clarkesville and Jeff and Sundi Lovell of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Frank Boggs of Clermont; stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Brenda and Donnie Gudger of Clarkesville; grandchildren: Anthony Lovell, Kayla Leverette, Austin “A.J.” Lovell, Meagan Lovell, Jonathan Boggs, and Robyn Boggs; great-grandchildren, Evan Leverette and Bryan Leverette; brother, Julius “Ted” Lovell of Clarkesville; and sisters, Lou Bell Lovell of Cleveland and Effie “Tootie” Wilbanks of Mt. Airy.

A private family graveside service will be held at Yonah Memorial Gardens with Rev. Donald Grizzle officiating.

Robert and Betty are the some of the sweetest people we know .We enjoyed seeing them at Zaxbys and talking about the days we worked together at Clarkesville Mills. My thoughts and prayers are with family .He will be greatly missed.

Betty, Tammy, Scott, Jeff, spouses, grandchildren and great grands, my heart breaks for all of you. Robert Lovell was such a nice person. I am glad I got to know him a little as well. He was such a pleasant person to be around and Betty you are just a sweet person that it was always nice to be around ya'll. I have felt like all of ya'll are family to our family too and Tammy has just been like another sister and best fried to me since I first met her. I love your family and treasure the years I have know you all. I am praying God brings all of you peace and comfort as only he can. God Bless you all. Love and prayers, Joyce Westmoreland and family.
