Obituary for Louise Holbrooks (Smith)
Louise Smith Holbrooks, age 93, of Cornelia, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2022.
Born on November 7, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Willie B. Smith and Nellie Belle Mote Smith. Mrs. Holbrooks worked many jobs, her primary job was being a homemaker, and babysitting her grandchildren. Louise loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Winford Holbrooks; son, Aleck Sim Holbrooks; sisters, Gladys Phillips, and Ellene Holbrooks; and brother, J.E. Smith.
Survivors include, son and daughter-in-law, Edward Holbrooks (Wanda) of Cornelia; daughter and son-in-law, Frances Burns (Larry) of Cornelia; daughter-in-law, Teresa Holbrooks of Hollywood; 19 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm, on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at the funeral home.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 am, on Friday,
October 21, 2022, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Truitt Phillips, Rev. Chad Holbrooks and Rev. Spence Fuller officiating. Interment will follow at Grace Baptist Church Cemetery.
