Obituary for David Wright Sherman
David Wright Sherman, age 89, of Cornelia, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023.
Born on March 17, 1933, in Winchester, Massachusetts, he was a son of the late Edgar Jay Sherman and Mary Alden Whittington Sherman. Mr. Sherman worked in home owner marketing services at Errors and Omissions Insurance. He was previously an Active Director of United Way in Florida as well as a Real Estate Broker. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Cornelia where he served as an Elder and was active in the men’s fellowship. Mr. Sherman was a member of Habersham Rotary with 26 years of perfect attendance. He enjoyed fishing, antique cars, gardening, and feeding deer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Edgar Jay Sherman III, John Alden Sherman, and Richard Whittington Sherman.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Martha Lee Sherman of Cornelia; son, Michael David Sherman of Gainesville; daughters and son-in-law: Kimberly Anne Sherman of Cornelia, Elizabeth Kay Sherman of Monroe, Christine Angel Levesque and Mark of Clayton, and Michelle Anne Sherman of Woodstock; grandchild, Colten Sloan Sherman of Dallas; three great-grandchildren; brother, William Sherman of San Francisco, CA; family friend, Michael G. Kohr of Cornelia; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church of Cornelia with Rev. Andy S. Chambers officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made ‘In Honor of David Sherman’ to First Presbyterian Church of Cornelia, 469 North Main Street, Cornelia, Georgia 30531.
