Obituary for Betty Joyce Virginia Autry Colston
Betty Joyce Virginia Autry Colston, age 87, of Cornelia, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022.
Born on November 23, 1934, in Cleveland, she was a daughter of the late Loy Daniel Autry and Carrie Lee Nix Autry. Mrs. Colston was a seamstress at Academy Garment. She loved her family, reading and was a Brownie Leader. She enjoyed breaking and canning green beans and especially loved breaking beans for others. To her friends she was known to be thoughtful and kind to others. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon Earnest Colston; an unborn infant; infant brother, Raymond Autry; brothers and sisters-in-law: Loy Daniel, Jr. and Sue, Virgil Autry, Ray Neal Autry and Juanita, Benny Autry, and Farrel Autry; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Ernest Harkins; and sister-in-law, Dianne Autry.
Survivors include sons, Randy Weldon Colston of Cornelia, David Mark Colston (Sandy) of Cornelia; daughters, Joye Colston Dodd and Ricky of Cornelia, Diane Colston Shaw of Cornelia; brothers, Crandall Autry of Gainesville; sister-in-law Sarah and (Toni) Autry of Pennsylvania and Ann Autry of Savannah; former sister-in-law, Diane Turner; grandchildren, Matthew Scroggs, Ashley Dodd Freeman (Thomas), Brooke Alexis Stanley (Nathan); great-grandchildren, Cara and Mya Scroggs, T.J. Wright, Ada Jaymes, Owen Freeman, Colston Stanley.
Private services will be held. A public celebration of life may be held at a later date.
