Obituary for Alfred William "Al" Green

Alfred William “Al” Green, age 78 of Mt. Airy, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020.

Born in Hanover, New York on April 20, 1941 to the late Charles Henry Green and Mary Ethel Jenkle Eastman. Mr. Green worked in auto body with Tabor Motor Company for many years. He enjoyed wood working, being outdoors, working in the yard, camping and attending car shows. Mr. Green was a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Verlene Z. Brown Green; infant son, Marc William Green; daughter, Annette Mary Durham; brother, Ray Green; granddaughter, Chelsea Thomas.

Surviving are his wife, Bertha Lee Cash Green of Mt. Airy; daughters and son-in-law, Loni JoAnn Schultz of Duluth, Billie Jo Kirk (Bruce) of Toccoa; step sons and step daughters-in-law, Thomas Mealor (Sandra) of Mt. Airy and Doug Mealor (Regina) of Villa Rica; grandchildren, Michael William Dauplaise, Sara Elizabeth Konkol, Brittany Elizabeth Collins, Anastasia Ruth Buh, Chelsea Marie McClain, Markie Jones, William Othenile Wolfrey, Caleb Hunter Kirk; step grandchildren, Ellen Lusk, Dustin Mealor (Hope), Desiree Wright, Goldie Sweat; great-grandchildren, Bayle, Zeke, Macie, Aubrey, Paiten, Colson, Caven, Rebecca, Michael, Scarlett, Victoria, Devon, Justin and 1 special great grandchild, Aaron; great-great grandchild, Willow; brothers, Robert Green of Bradenton, Florida and Dwayne Green of Jamestown, New York; sisters, Edith Smith of Jamestown, New York, Judy Eastman of Warren Pennsylvania and Sharon Flasher of Pittsfield, Pennsylvania; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Memorial services are scheduled for 4 pm, Tuesday, January 21, 2020 in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Pastor Mike Franklin officiating. A reception will follow the service at The Torch.

The family will receive friends from 3 pm until the service hour on Tuesday at the funeral home.
